About Me

A Successful Spring Outdoor Party

I grew up on a small ranch in the southern United States. My family’s home was situated on over 70 acres of land. During the warm weather months, I enjoyed inviting my friends over for parties. We would play games of volleyball and badminton in my backyard. Afterwards, we would enjoy a hearty meal of grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, potato chips, and cookies. Those parties were some of the most memorable ones of my lifetime. Now that I have a home of my own, I’d like to start planning some festive outdoor parties. In order to recreate the fun I had years ago, I need to purchase some sports supplies such as a volleyball net, a volleyball, and some badminton rackets. On this blog, you will discover the essential sports supplies to buy in order to host a successful spring outdoor party.

5 Things to Bring to a Permit to Carry Class

If you want to carry your gun in a concealed manner, you will need to take a permit to carry class so you can obtain your concealed carry permit. Once you are signed up for the class, you will want to ensure you bring the right items to the class with you.

Thing #1: Bring Eye and Ear Protection

During your class, you will go to a range to practice with your firearm and demonstrate that you understand how to carry and use your firearm. You are going to want to bring your own supplies to protect your eyes and ears. In addition, you will want to bring some custom-fitting earplugs or electronic earmuffs to protect your hearing; a firing range can be loud.

You are also going to want to protect your eyes. Keep in mind sunglasses are not enough to protect your eyes from small projectiles. You will want to invest in ballistic rates protective eyewear that wraps around the sides of your eyes.

Thing #2: Bring Proper Clothing

Second, you are going to want to wear proper clothing. For example, when going to a shooting range, you will want to wear closed-toe shoes. You are going to want to wear pants that you can attach a holster to. You are also going to want to wear a shirt with sleeves. Your clothing should mimic what you may wear on a regular day when carrying a concealed firearm so that you can get a feel for what it will be like in real life.

Thing #3: Ask About a Pistol

Third, you will want to check with the instructor to see if you can bring your own handgun to the class. Some will allow you to bring the handgun to class, and others will only allow you to bring it to the range portion of the class.

If you are allowed to bring your handgun to class, you will want to ensure that it is unloaded with an empty cylinder and the slide locked back. The instructor will verify the gun is unloaded.

Thing #4: Be Careful With Ammunition

Fourth, be careful with ammunition. With most classes, you will not be allowed to bring in live ammunition to the classroom so that it doesn't get mixed up with dummy rounds. Often, you are only allowed to bring ammunition to the range.

Thing #5: Bring a Snack

Fifth, most concealed carry classes can run for a while, so it can be a good idea to pack a lunch or bring some snacks and water with you so that you are full and able to focus during the class. As you will be in a classroom setting, bring food that isn't that odorous and doesn't require preparation, such as a sandwich.

If you are signed up for a concealed carry class, ask about bringing your pistol and ammunition to the class or the range. Bring eye and ear protection for the range and wear appropriate clothing. Pack a snack or a lunch, as these classes can take a while.
